AFTER five years of court battles, the owners of a Cape Tribulation resort have taken back management of the backpacker drawcard.
Ashlee Piper and Mark Biancotti have owned PK’s Jungle Village for 15 years and were given back management rights to the Cape Tribulation property last week in a ruling by Brisbane’s Supreme Court.
PK’s Jungle Village was sold in 2014 in exchange for two Gold Coast properties valued at $250,000 each, a $1.5 million boat and $2 million in cash.
However, the contract wasn’t completed, leading Mr Biancotti and Ms Piper to seek legal advice.
“The Supreme Court in Brisbane granted us immediate possession last Monday. We were shocked it happened so quickly,” Ms Piper said.
“We’ve got another business at Palm Cove (so) we have been busy; it’s a big stress when you’ve got this going on.”
Ms Piper travelled up to Cape Tribulation on Tuesday and said plans were afoot to reinvigorate the business.
“We are getting PK’s Jungle Village back on the map and back to when we used to have some real fun,” a post on the resort’s Facebook page read.
“Everyone is welcome – locals, tourists, guests – come and say hi and have a drink with us.”
Mr Biancotti’s business MFB Properties (NQ) Pty Ltd also owns the Sarayi Hotel on Williams Esplanade at Palm Cove.
PK’s Jungle Village provides budget resort accommodation for families, adventure travellers, backpackers and locals.
Guests can enjoy horseback riding, snorkelling, kayaking, bushwalking as well as other tours, or a beverage at PK’s Jungle Bar.
