BOXER Luke Jackson has thanked the public for helping to get his stolen Olympic ring returned to him.

Jackson was shattered last week when he discovered his house had been ransacked and the treasured ring stolen.

The London Olympics boxing team captain was contacted yesterday morning by Tasmania Police and told the ring had been handed in.

Jackson is in Sydney preparing for his third professional fight, which will be held there at the end of the month.

"It is amazing news, mate," Jackson told the Mercury yesterday.

"It is a massive weight off my shoulders 14 days out from the biggest fight of my professional career," he said.

The Commonwealth Games bronze medallist said police were still trying to find out who trashed his Moonah house last week, apparently looking for the ring.

"They are still no closer to finding who did my house over," Jackson said yesterday.

The story of the stolen diamond-studded band, shaped like the Olympic rings, drew national attention.

Jackson thanked the 600 Tasmanians who spread the word on social media.

"That many people shared the photo and helped to get my ring back," he said.

Glenorchy CIB confirmed yesterday the ring was handed in and investigations were continuing into who robbed Jackson's home.
