An Australian woman has been arrested in Bali, suspected of possession of a marijuana liquid.
It is alleged that the substance — 0.57 gram — was contained in a parcel sent to the woman in Bali from a friend in the United States.
Kim Anne Alloggia was arrested on the weekend and is now in custody at Denpasar police station, facing drug possession charges which carry a maximum 12-year sentence.
Alloggia, 51, was arrested on Saturday afternoon and interrogated that evening.
Described as a designer and fabric artist, she is believed to be from Taree in New South Wales and has also been living in Seminyak. The substance, a yellow liquid, is alleged to have been found within a parcel containing a substance for colouring fabrics.

News Corp understands the parcel was addressed to Kim E Artist and sent to the address of her Balinese business manager.
The man, Komang Gede Happy Darmawan, collected the parcel from the post office. At the time Alloggia was not in Bali, having travelled away from Bali and to Singapore on a visa run.
News Corp understands that police had Mr Darmawan under surveillance from when he took delivery of the parcel and allegedly watched as he later delivered it to Alloggia at her Seminyak address.
Alloggia’s lawyer, Made Suardika Adnyana, said his client denied having the drugs and told police that she didn’t know the package contained drugs as she had never ordered it.
Mr Adnyana said his client had a liver problem and she often stayed in Bali because she felt happy there and could access many herbal medications.
“She has a friend in the US who is suffering cancer. So, her friend sent the liquid for her, saying that it’s an alternative medicine that will be good for her. Her friend had that also in the US,” he said.
“However, she doesn’t know that the ‘liquid’ contained marijuana.”
Mr Adnyana said that Alloggia told police that she is ready to take responsibility.
“She said that she would take the responsibility as it is found in her package,” he said.
Alloggia is being held in custody under suspicion of possession of drugs made from a plant under Indonesia’s drugs laws.
