Alison Maiden finds four spirits inside Cairns Post office

Psychic medium Alison Maiden says the Cairns CBD is “definitely haunted”. So we asked her to tour the Cairns Post office - one of the city’s oldest buildings - and give her verdict on any resident ghosts.

WHEN Cairns psychic medium Alison Maiden revealed during Halloween that the city’s CBD is “definitely haunted”, staff here at the Cairns Post were intrigued.

Especially since, over the years, various staff members have reported hearing unusual noises in the building.

One staff member reported hearing the sounds of a keyboard when she was working alone.

Others have heard the front door scanner sound, but were puzzled to see no one enter the building through the securitycameras.

So we invited Alison to tour the building, hoping she could explain the unusual activity.

The Cairns Post building on Abbott St.

The heritage-listed Cairns Post office on Abbott St is one of the city’s oldest buildings.

Construction was originally completed in 1908 but it was then extended to its current form in the early 1920s.

Alison says during the extension, a construction worker tragically died… but his spirit remained.
