$100 million Home Improvement Scheme hits halfway mark milestone

NEW data has revealed how many Home Improvement Scheme vouchers have been handed out thus far

MORE than 11,000 vouchers from the NT Government’s Home Improvement Scheme package have been sent to households, as new data reveals the average value of each job is about $8900.

The Home Improvement Scheme was introduced in light of the coronavirus crisis in the hopes of adding a huge injection of cash into the Territory economy by supporting tradies.

Of the 19,551 applications received, new government data shows 11,008 vouchers have been sent out three and a half months later, worth a total value of $55m.

The average value of each Home Improvement Scheme job is $8900.

Aaron Pollock, of Rosebery, said the Home Improvement Scheme had allowed him to start his own company — AP Screens and Maintenance.

He was working two jobs before, including one at a scaffolding yard, but has since been installing security screens as his full time job.

Estimating he wrote up a total of 30 quotes for the Home Improvement Scheme, Mr Pollock hopes to add to the five jobs he’s already completed and the seven more that are on his waiting list.
