Mount Surround: Truck crashes into drain off Bruce Highway

Emergency services are responding to reports of a truck crash on the Bruce Highway south of Townsville.

Emergency services are responding to reports of a truck crash on the Bruce Highway south of Townsville.

Queensland Ambulance Service said initial reports were that a truck had left the highway and crashed into a ditch or drain south of Link Rd, Mount Surround, between Townsville and Ayr.

Queensland Police Service confirmed the reports that a truck not towing a trailer crashed into a drain.

Initial reports from the scene are that the truck may have dropped a number of metres and that the driver has been injured though is in a stable condition.

A QPS spokesman said police were yet to arrive on scene.

There are no reports that the highway is closed in either lane.
