Mount Isa Police have declared a crime scene after a serious female-on-female assault left a victim with head trauma.

Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed they were call to the scene of the incident on Transmission Street, Mornington, at 3.28pm on Sunday.

A QAS spokesman said a woman, 41, had suffered a significant laceration above her eye.

The injury was not life-threatening, he said.

Queensland Police Service categorised the incident as a serious assault.

One person, an adult female, had been taken into custody, a QPS spokeswoman said.
