Close call in Palmerston

Shocking dashcam footage has revealed a woman’s near miss as a ute appeared to swing out in front of her, narrowly avoiding a collision.

The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon about 5.45pm on the corner of Chung Wah Tce and Elrundie Ave.

Ben Gill shared the footage with this masthead, saying his wife was driving home at the time.

“She was pretty shaken up by the close call,” Mr Gill said.

Mr Gill said he and his wife had educated their two teens on safe driving, helping Mrs Gill to avoid a nasty accident.

“We have two teens — one on their Ls and the other on their Ps,” Mr Gill said.

“We have drummed into them the importance of defensive driving.”

The near miss came in the same week NT Police launched Operation Angove.

Police promised more visibility and RBTs Territory-wide during the festive season, reminding Territorians to take care on the roads.

“We will be anywhere at any time,” Superintendent Rick Magree said.

“It’s important to make good choices, slow down and definitely don’t drink and drive.”
