Missing person: Police appeal for help finding 23-year-old Carissa Howlett

A young Territory woman who went missing on a road trip to Queensland has been found.

UPDATE: A YOUNG Territory woman who went missing on a road trip to Queensland has been found.

Carissa Howlett, 23, was reported missing on Saturday, after last being seen on Friday travelling along the Barkly Highway in a gold Holden Captiva.

Her car was later found abandoned near the Barkly Homestead turn off.

NT Police said it was believed the 23-year-old was topless while lost in the Central Australian bush.

After going missing for a day, Police reported Ms Howlett was found safe and well on Saturday evening.

“Police would like to thank the community for their assistance in this matter,” a spokesman said.

INITIAL SAT: Northern Territory police are seeking information to help find a 23-year-old missing woman who is believed to be travelling to Queensland.

Carissa Howlett was last seen on Friday travelling along the Barkly Highway in a gold Holden Captiva, which has since been found abandoned near the Barkly Homestead turn off.

Police received a report on Saturday morning of a possible sighting of the 23-year-old about 30km east of the Barkly Homestead, however, police have failed to find the woman in that area.

Information given to police suggested Ms Howlett was not wearing a top.
