Man stabbed by machete-wielding intruders in home invasion

A neighbour has described the “pretty crazy” scenes after a man was confronted by a group of machete-wielding intruders in a home invasion.

A man is in hospital after being confronted by a group of machete-wielding intruders during a home invasion in Sydney’s west.

Police say the 56-year-old was attacked by the group, who broke into his Seven Hills home at about 3am on Tuesday.

Officers were told the man confronted four unknown men – one believed to have been armed with a machete – in his garage when he was stabbed in the arm, police said in a statement.

The man was treated for serious injuries to his arm and taken to hospital for further treatment.

Detectives and forensic investigators closed the street on Tuesday morning to speak with neighbours and gather DNA evidence.

A heavy police presence remained at the scene later that morning as a major manhunt to locate the attackers commenced.

Neighbour Simon Brannigan told The Daily Telegraph that he woke to an altercation outside, with the incident leaving him feeling “rattled” and “scared”.

“It was kind of just male voices, all yelling,” he said.

“They sort of just jumped in a car and took off,”

“It’s just Tuesday morning, so pretty crazy.”
