A second man has been charged after an alleged targeted shooting on a quiet suburban street on the Gold Coast.
Police and paramedics were called to Woodlands Way in Parkwood just before 8pm on June 5 after reports a 21-year-old man had suffered a gun shot wound to his leg and other injuries to his hand.
He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
A 23-year-old man from Banora Point was arrested by NSW police on June 6 with officers making an application in Tweed Heads Local Court for him to be extradited to Queensland.
Gold Coast police Superintendent Brett Jackson confirmed on Monday that another man, an 18-year-old, had also been taken into custody.
Both men have been charged with deprivation of liberty, acts intended to disfigure, robbery and wounding and fronted Southport Magistrates Court on Monday.
“We believe it was a targeted incident so that’s why we don’t hold concerns for the public as well as the fact that we have located both those alleged offenders,” Superintendent Jackson said.
“That sort of charge (deprivation of liberty) would suggest they have allegedly deprived that person from being able to move about or to leave a certain location.”
It’s not yet known what led police to make the arrests or if the weapon allegedly used has been seized.
Packaging and medical supplies were left scattered along a footpath the next morning at the scene – alongside it was a water bottle splattered with blood.
The incident occurred several hundreds metres from a day care centre in a quiet semirural street with large properties.
