One of the Northern Territory’s most renowned curators has been recognised for his preservation of local history at this year’s Charles Darwin Univserity Alumni Awards.
Museum and Art Gallery of the NT’s Jared Archibald OAM received the Alumni Award for Industry Excellence.
The Curator of Territory History graduated from the Northern Territory University with an Associate Diploma of Environmental Biology in 1990.
Before taking on his current role, he worked as a taxidermist at the museum for 16 years.
Mr Archibald received the Order of Australia Medal in 2022 for his tireless service to the museums and galleries sector.
His first solo exhibition – the popular ‘Unruly Days’ display at MAGNT – is testament to his impressive scope of knowledge and contribution to the industry.
Mr Archibald was one of 10 winners at the prestigious awards night.
CDU Alumni manager David MacBain said the awards showcased the best of the university’s graduates and their contributions to the community.
“This year’s winners and all those who were nominated are creating significant change within their fields and communities, and it’s an honour to celebrate them,” Mr MacBain said.
