The Cairns Post has partnered with FNQ Rugby League to broadcast as many as 80 Cairns District Rugby League games live this season.

A “match of the round” will be livestreamed exclusively by the Cairns Post throughout the 2022 season, allowing subscribers an opportunity to watch the as many as four games per week whether they’re at home, or on the road through the mobile app.

FNQ Rugby League chairman Rob White said he was excited about what the partnership could offer the rugby league community.

“It’s exciting for our game, and the competition,” he said.

“It benefits our game more broadly, and it provides a way for more people to watch the games from home if they’re unable to make it to the venues.

“We’re looking forward to partnering with the Cairns Post to bring the competition to more people.”

The livestream coverage will feature every game from one venue per week, with under-18s, reserves, women’s and A-grade games to be shown live.

Readers will need a subscription to view the games, with full match replays made available shortly after fulltime.

Work is well under way on a weekly broadcast schedule for the full season which allow clubs as fair and equal share of the spotlight as possible, showcasing more of the Far North’s overwhelming talent throughout the year.

The Cairns Post will also livestream every game over four weeks of the post-season, including the grand final at Barlow Park on September 24.

The CDRL competition will kick off this weekend, highlighted by the clash between defending champions Yarrabah Seahawks and Mossman-Port Douglas Sharks, the winner of the two previous CDRL titles, at Jilara Oval on Sunday.
