SOUTH Cairns entered the Cairns District Rugby League spotlight when Southern Suburbs face Edmonton Storm in the Match of the Round.
Both sides are near the bottom of the A-grade ladder, but the healthy rivalry sparked some tough battles across the three grades.
In A-grade, Suburbs entered the weekend with one win from four games, though they have looked far better than their win-loss record indicates.
Edmonton has been battered by injury to start the season, and that situation was made worse when they were deducted four points for fielding an ineligible player earlier this season.
The game was moved from Suburbs’ home ground, Alley Park, to the neutral venue of Jones Park, due to the condition of the field.
Alley Park had not been reopened by council late in the week, with FNQ Rugby League officials making an early decision to shift the venue.
