For her commitment to transforming rural healthcare, Kristy Hollis has been named the 2025 NT AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award winner.
With 23 years of experience under her belt, the naturopath, herbalist and entrepreneur has worked with more than 8000 women through clinics, workshops and events.
Recognised for her devotion at a ceremony on Thursday, Ms Hollis edged fellow finalists Barbara Clifford and Nicole Walsh.
Ms Hollis shared her insight of the space she works in.
“Australia’s healthcare system still focuses heavily on treatment over prevention - in regional areas, the cost of chronic disease is profound, economically, socially and emotionally,” she said.
“I believe a respectful, collaborative approach that embraces both traditional and modern medicine can improve outcomes and strengthen whole communities.”
The former president of the Complementary Medicine Association of Australia has been advocating for naturopathy to be recognised in public policy.
Through her own initiative ‘Women’s Business: Nurture and Thrive’, Ms Hollis is building a movement for accessible, inclusive care.
Her Honour the Honourable Vicki O’Halloran AO CVO, former Administrator of the Northern Territory congratulated Ms Hollis for her leadership in reshaping health outcomes in the bush.
“Kristy is addressing one of the most pressing challenges in rural Australia, access to preventative and culturally relevant healthcare,” she said.
“Her commitment is transforming lives and strengthening communities from the inside out.”
Ms Hollis has also been given a $15,000 Westpac grant aimed at supporting her project.
Later this year, she will attend the AgriFutures Rural Women’s Award Gala Dinner and National Announcement in Canberra, where the national winner will receive an additional $20,000 grant and the national runner-up $15,000.
