Few people can bend a ball like Beckham, but Toowoomba’s own Jed Hockin may be the exception, after he recently obtained a Guinness World Record title.
Jed’s love for sport all started when he was just nine-years-old and began playing soccer and practising tricks in his backyard.
Since these humble beginnings, the now 22-year-old has grown a loyal social media following, encompassing more than 1.2 million people on Instagram and TikTok and most recently achieved a major goal.
Adding to his growing collection of world records, which now sits at a total of five, the most recent was ‘most rugby ball touches with the feet in one minute.’
Juggling the ball for 213 times without missing a beat, Jed’s record-breaking efforts equate to three and a half juggles per second.
“It was unreal when I was notified that I got the record – I was fairly confident that I had broken it but to get that confirmation that it was official was incredible,” he said.
“The biggest joy I get from doing this is that I can do what I love as a job and inspire and entertain many people while doing so.”
Jed said he spent many hours but less than two months perfecting the technique.
After the social media personality posted the record announcement on his Instagram account, it gained a huge amount of traction, with Jed receiving congratulatory comments from several sport stars including Australian cricketer David Warner, Brisbane Broncos captain Adam Reynolds and surfer Sally Fitzgibbons, as well as the National Rugby League.
Jed said there is plenty more to come.
