Police have charged a third man in connection with a shooting on the Gold Coast earlier this month that investigators believe was a targeted attack.
Byron Bay man Noah Alan Wittig, 20, appeared via videolink in Southport Magistrates Court on Thursday, where he was remanded in custody after making no application for bail.
His charges were adjourned to July 17.
Mr Wittig and his two co-accused, Banora Point man Jake Jackson Mills, 23, and Murwillumbah man Alex Raynor, 18, are each facing three charges.
They are acts intended to main/disfigure/disable, deprivation of liberty – unlawfully detain/confine, and robbery while armed and in company with the use of personal violence.
Mr Mills is facing an additional charge of possessing dangerous drugs.
The trio are alleged to have shot a 21-year-old man outside a house at Woodlands Way, Parkwood, on the evening of June 5.
Police previously said in a statement released the morning after the alleged shooting they received a call for service at about 7.50pm after a man “reportedly received a gunshot wound to his leg and other injuries to his hand”.
The allegedly shot man was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
“Initial inquiries indicate the incident to be targeted and there is not any ongoing threat to the community,” the statement read.
Pictures taken at the scene – a quiet semirural street with large properties located just a few hundred metres from a daycare centre – depicted a variety of detritus including medical supplies strewn on the verge, as well as a blood-spattered water bottle.
Mr Mills was arrested on June 6, the day after the alleged shooting, by NSW Police and extradited to Queensland. Mr Raynor was arrested shortly afterwards.
Both men faced court and made bail applications on June 9.
Mr Raynor was granted bail, but Mr Mills was remanded in pre-sentence custody, with both of their charges set to return on July 1.
The search for Mr Wittig took much longer than for his two co-accused, with his arrest only occurring in recent days.
Mr Wittig was extradited from NSW on Wednesday.
