Humpty Dumpty Foundation brings valuable equipment to Alice Springs Hospital

A Red Centre hospital has welcomed two very special visitors – and they left behind something which is helping ‘create life-changing outcomes’. Find out more.

A famous sportsperson and television personality is one half of a duo who paid a special visit to a Red Centre hospital, where recently donated equipment is creating “ life-changing outcomes”.

When, the Humpty Dumpty Foundation comes calling it is safe to say what they leave behind will help the lives of Alice Springs residents.

And that was the case during the most recent visit to Alice Springs Hospital, where two giraffe omnibeds have been donated by the Foundation to the special care nursery.

Humpty Dumpty Foundation founder Paul Francis said the omnibeds are some of more than 60 pieces of equipment the foundation has donated to the Red Centre hospital since 2017.

“There is a real and urgent need right across the Northern Territory for more medical equipment to treat and care for sick children,” he said.

The donation is helping to create “life-changing outcomes in the Northern Territory,” he said.

“Australian children deserve to have access to the very best healthcare. It shouldn’t matter where you live in Australia but if you are in the Northern Territory it does matter – and that is what we want to change.”

Joining Mr Francis was foundation patron, TV personality and sportsperson Johanna Griggs, who said the donated omnibeds are worth $77,000 each.

“These neonatal hybrid warmer/incubators will provide better care to vulnerable infants in particular those that are born premature or critically ill,” she said.

“There is of course so much more to be done to ensure every Australian child – especially those in the Northern Territory – have access to quality healthcare, no matter where they live.”

Tennant Creek hospital also recently a panda warmer (a device designed to provide controlled warmth to newborns) and six hemocue devices from the foundation.

A hemocue device is a portable blood testing system.
