Half way through the year, we pick the best 16 recruits in the SFL Community League

We have ticked over the halfway mark of the 2025 season and many new recruits have made their mark for their new homes. Find out who the best 16 recruits are midway through the SFL season.

We have reached the halfway mark of the SFL Community League season with some of the new recruits leading the way for their sides.

We have taken a deep dive into the best recruits from each club so far.

Claremont

Logan Meredith

A tough and hard footballer who puts his head over the ball. Can read the play quite well and one of the best uses the ball both by foot and by hand.

Josh Meredith

The tall ruckman just battles away week in, week out trying to give his midfielders first use of the ball. The brothers have both come from Glenorchy and use the knowledge they learned from TSL to the players at Claremont.

Cygnet

Lochie Griggs

Played 100 games for the Tigers in the TSL. He has provided that intercept defender which Cygnet haven’t had the last couple of years and has the ability to pick up 30-plus disposals as well and is a quality user of the footy providing run off the half back.

James Zeitzen

A valuable key forward, lighting quick that has given Cygnet another option up forward who has big games despite not always having big bags of goals.

Dodges Ferry

Jason Gridley

Pretty much can play anywhere, has been a defender for most of the year playing as a lockdown defender on some big forwards of the game but has found in recent weeks he has moved into the midfield and had a massive impact for the Sharks.

Kobey Phillips

Older head, with the young midfield brigade, Phillips has shown the pathway for the players coming through with his leadership skills and having plenty in the tank. Plays as an on the field coach.

Hobart

Jude Butler

Super midfielder, ultra talented but starting to put it together with consistency of performance and leadership. Hits the scoreboard too

Noah Mead

One of the best, if not the best ruckman in the competition at the moment. Has rarely had a bad day and continues to give the mids first look

Huonville

Jack Preshaw

In his first year at the club he has been named captain for the Lions which goes with the massive start to the year.

Eddie Burrows-Cheng

He has been one of our star midfielders right from the first week, has brought in great talent into the midfield.

Lindisfarne

Luke Paton

Recruited from Lauderdale last season, an absolute bull in the midfield. Explosive from stoppages, elite pressure as well as great leadership skills for the young stars coming through. Well loved amongst the group.

Kurt Cole

Down from Bond University in Queensland, a classic blue collar footballer who does all the hard work you would expect to see. A player who makes his teammates better, leading from the front with his tackling pressure, tough footballer.

Jacob Daley of New Norfolk is one of the top new recruits for 2025. Picture: Nikki Davis-Jones

New Norfolk

Jacob Daley

Daley is coming back from 12 months off due to work and he has been really handy for NN as a target up forward. Early on he was lucky enough to get on the end of a couple bags and really drive his presence for us up forward which is something we have been missing for at least 12 months.

Ryan Wakefield

Spent the last few years in the Old Scholars, has been fantastic for his new side, playing the high half forward role, also adding more midfield depth as well. Has been covering the ground really well, the running capacity is a step above and the elite left footer is dominant with ball in hand when New Norfolk go forward.

Sorell

Mitch Anderton

Anderton returned from Clarence and has played a lot of TSL footy and is a magnificent footballer and a magnificent leader.

Jeremiah Perkins

A seasoned footballer now, who previously played at Lauderdale, Perkins was with Sorell when he was younger but he has learned a lot about football and has turned into a consistent footballer.
