Man dies in vehicle rollover at Silverleigh

A man in his 70s has tragically died after his vehicle rolled on a country road in the Darling Downs on Sunday. Full details here.

A 72-year-old Goombungee man involved in a single-vehicle crash on a country road in the Darling Downs region has tragically died.

The incident occurred just after 9am on Sunday along a stretch of isolated, dirt road on Kingsthorpe Silverleigh Rd at Silverleigh, around 32km south of Toowoomba.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said paramedics treated the male driver, who suffered critical injuries.

It is understood there were no other occupants in the vehicle.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services inspector Stewart Lange said crews had attended the incident which had sadly claimed the driver’s life.

“When crews have done a search of the area to ensure no other occupants were in the car, with the police and ambulance service having confirmed what the situation is,” he said.

It is yet to be determined what caused the vehicle to exit the road, with the Forensic Crash Investigation Unit now working to determine how the incident occurred.

Inspector Lange reminded drivers to always take caution when driving on country roads.

“Any day when there’s a car crash is a sad day and when somebody’s life is taken it’s a sad day,” he said.

“We just implore people to drive to the conditions and get home safely no matter where we go.”
