Popular UK producer Chris Lake says he is “itching” to get back to the Gold Coast, as he shares how DJ Fisher convinced him to perform at his hometown festival.
The English born, LA-based star was added to Fisher’s jam packed line-up for his Out 2 Lunch festival in Broadwater Parklands on May 4.
Lake said his friend Paul Fisher, aka Fisher, had been “talking (Out 2 Lunch festival) up for a while” after the success of the inaugural event in Coolangatta last year.
“The concept of Out 2 Lunch immediately grabbed my attention – beachside, curated with intention and a real focus on quality,” he said.
“It’s not just another festival stop. It felt like something fresh.”
Lake said he had seen first hand how much time Fisher put into curating an “impressive” festival, which follows the duo’s Under Construction project which shut down Hollywood Blvd in 2023.
“He’s been really hands on (with Out 2 Lunch),” he said.
“It shows how passionate he is about bringing something special to the Gold Coast.
“He told me straight up, ‘Mate, this one’s going to be wild’, and honestly, coming from him, that’s saying something.”
Lake said he was “itching to get back” to the Gold Coast and to try out some “local food spots”.
“There’s something about the Gold Coast that feels both laid-back and electric at the same time,” he said.
“The beach, the crowd, the atmosphere – it’s such a special combination.”
Lake said he had a lot planned for his Sunday Out 2 Lunch gig thanks to the upcoming July 11 release of his album, Chemistry.
“I always try to create a journey with my sets and with a backdrop like this it’ll be something special,” he said.
“Expect a lot of energy.”
While in Australia, Lake said he would be doing two sideshows in PICA, Melbourne on May 9 and Hordern Pavilion, Sydney on May 10.
