Forty years of fear are about to reach a terrifying peak with the “twisted fever dream” of Dracula’s latest show Lucid.
The new show launches at the outfit’s Broadbeach scare palace on Wednesday and combining spine-shaking live-music, jaw-dropping aerial acts and razor-sharp comedy promises a “full-throttle sensory overload”.
Chief executive of Newman entertainment Luke Newman said that Lucid will be a defining chapter in the decades long legacy of the cabaret.
“This isn’t just another show. It’s the culmination of four decades of madness, creativity, and a relentless drive to shock, seduce, and blow audiences’ minds,” he said. “We’ve spent years tearing up the rule book and building something that’s bigger, bolder and more outrageous than ever.”
As the show evolves Mr Newman promises Dracula’s will continue to push boundaries and deliver audiences with shock and awe.
“All the content throughout is brand new, we’ve got incredible new music, some new cast members on stage, some never before seen aerial acrobatics which have been designed especially for us,” he said. “The comedy is insane and crazy and out there, so it is truly a variety show from start to finish.”
For the uninitiated the concept of Dracula’s may be slightly mystifying. Is it a concert? A cabaret? A comedy?
Andy Symner, who plays Shade in the new show, said the answer is anything and everything.
“With every show you really don’t know what to expect and I think that’s the exciting thing,” he said. “Every time you come back everything is different. I guess that’s the mystery of it – never expect anything, expect everything.”
