ONE of the men killed in Wednesday’s outback Queensland mining tragedy is a Gold Coast man being remembered by friends and colleagues as a “beautiful soul”.
Pimpama resident Trevor Davis, 36, was found dead alongside colleague and Bucca resident Dylan Langridge, 33, after their ute plummeted 15 metres into a void deep below ground at the Dugald River underground mine near Cloncurry.
Mates and colleagues recalled Mr Davis as a “beautiful soul” who was “one of the good ones”.
The Barminco employees had been declared missing at 1pm on Wednesday, with police confirming the incident happened at 8am that day.
Rescue crews found the vehicle that the two missing men were driving on Thursday morning.
Mr Davis and Mr Langridge were found dead shortly before 5pm on Thursday.
In the wake of the tragic discovery of their bodies, Mr Davis’ personal Facebook page has been flooded with an outpouring of grief.
Friend Sammy Stevens wrote: “Was only nine days ago we were sinking (beers) together and having a punt. Brother, it has been a privilege and won’t be the same without you.”

He went to school at Bishop Druitt College in Coffs Harbour.
On Friday morning, police were preparing a report for the coroner.
Police assisted specialist staff from Mines Inspectorate and Resource Safety and Health Queensland on Wednesday and Thursday to retrieve the vehicle.
