A tourist made a dramatic splash on Saturday afternoon after falling from a whale watching cruise boat off the Gold Coast.
Kokomo Cruise founder Nic Jones said it was a “very shocking incident” as the woman from Gatton fell off the vessel after her jacket became tangled in a locking pin on the boat’s gate.
“At the end of the cruise as she went to go back to her seat it unlocked the gate and threw her off balance simultaneously,” he said.
“It was a very shocking incident – thank goodness she is absolutely okay.”
Mr Jones said a secondary boat was present which helped pull the woman out of the water and back to safety.
“Our crew got a life ring onto her and she sort of floated past – but she was close so they didn’t want to use engines,” he said.
“Another boat came in and picked her up pretty quickly – so she was out of the water quickly.”
Mr Jones said whilst it was a “scary incident” the passenger was okay.
