Thieves who stole a car from a Gold Coast home were believed to be taking a “nice family walk in the park with a young child” before the theft.

Police confirmed they were investigating the theft of a Mercedes sedan from a Hope Island residence about 6pm Friday.

They said one at least one person entered the Cova Boulevard address before they gained access to the Mercedes parked in the residence’s garage.

Gold Coast company I SPY security shared photos and videos online of a family, including a child, at the address before the theft in a white hatchback car.

Another photo showed a heavily tattooed man wearing Nike shoes standing beside what was understood to be the stolen car.

“They appeared to go for a nice family walk in the park with a young child prior to stealing the vehicle,” the company wrote on Facebook alongside the images and a video.

Police did not confirm this when the Bulletin approached for comment.

They said investigations were ongoing and they were looking to talk to the driver of a white 2009 Ford Fiesta.

Anyone with information should phone Policelink on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
