“One of the offenders allegedly demanded a phone from the victim while holding a knife near their body. Another offender then allegedly threatened the second victim,” Gold Coast District Chief Superintendent Craig Hanlon said.

“Luckily, in this instance, the alleged victims weren’t actually physically touched and they received no injuries.”

A nearby resident broke up the incident before the three teens allegedly fled the scene in a stolen Nissan X-Trail.

Police spotted the car in Nerang on Monday at around 4.45pm.

However, the third youngster allegedly put up more of a fight, fleeing the scene and jumping into the Nerang River in an attempt to evade police.

The teen was arrested roughly 10 minutes later.

Two boys, aged 13 and 17, from Highland Park have been charged with one count each of armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, and receiving tainted property.
