Police have charged a man over an alleged violent brawl on a suburban Gold Coast street that left two people in hospital and others injured.
Emergency services responded to the reported disturbance in Upper Coomera at about 7.45pm on Sunday, May 19.
A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “A male patient in his 20s suffered a puncture wound to the wrist and head injuries. A second patient, also a male in his 20s, sustained head, facial and groin injuries.”
Both men were transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in stable conditions for further treatment. Paramedics also assessed a woman in her 40s for head, neck and chest injuries – she declined transport to hospital. In total, six people sustained injuries.
A Queensland Police Service (QPS) spokeswoman said the incident involved two groups of people who were known to each other. It’s alleged a front door was damaged and window shattered during the fracas.
Officers have since charged a 19-year-old Upper Coomera man with two counts each of assault occasioning bodily harm and wilful damage, and one count each of wounding and common assault. He’ll face Southport Magistrates Court on May 19.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
