A woman has been rushed to hospital after being shot in the stomach with a nail gun on the Gold Coast.

Emergency services were called after a woman reportedly sustained an abdominal injury following an incident at around 7.40am on Tuesday.

An ambulance spokeswoman said they believe she was trying to drive herself to hospital before pulling over on the M1 and calling triple-0.

The ambulance spokeswoman said she was taken in a stable condition with a “penetrating abdominal wound”.
