Detectives investigating a violent Gold Coast home invasion on Sunday morning are working to determine if the attackers involved attempted to dismember the victim.
Three men stormed the property on Greenview Circuit, Arundel, about 4am and setupon a 25-year-old man who lives at the address.
“The victim in relation to this matter sustained some fairly significant injuries to his hands, fingers, arms and inner arms,” Gold Coast Superintendent Peter Miles said.
“Definitely it looks like there is evidence of defensive wounds. There is also allegations there that perhaps they were trying to remove the fingers as well.”
The victim, who according to police is not cooperating with investigations thus far, is expected to make a full recovery from his injuries.
“We believe that this is a targeted attack,” Supt Miles said.
“Members of the community shouldn’t be overly concerned that we’ve got offenders out there trying to come after them.”
Detectives have identified the getaway vehicle used by the offenders and are in the process of combing through councils CCTV network to track their movements.
Anyone with information or CCTV footage are urged to contact police.
