Sydney's cocaine crisis

A glamorous skincare specialist busted with a “significant” amount of cocaine and methylamphetamine during a police raid has avoided serving time in jail.

Nerang’s Brooke Elizabeth Grady, 34, pleaded guilty to six charges in the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday, including possessing dangerous drugs and possessing property in connection with a drug offence.

On August 2, police found clip-seal bags containing crystals and white powder as well as other drug paraphernalia during a search of a Nerang house where Grady was staying.

Digital scales, a wooden box containing a large amount of cash and four clip-seal bags containing gummies were also found.

Police prosecutor Gavin Reece said the substances were seized, sent away for testing and returned a result of 6.13g total gross weight of cocaine and 3.23g of methylamphetamine.

“It is quite a significant amount of drugs found in the house,” Mr Reece told the court.

Grady was arrested and charged following the raid.

The court was told the 34-year-old had a limited criminal history.

Solicitor Farshad Sarabi, of Hannay Lawyers, described his client as a “very intelligent woman” who was employed as a paramedical aesthetician.

Mr Sarabi conceded a “significant amount” of drugs were found, but said the 34-year-old had cooperated with police on the day of the search and had entered an early guilty plea.

Magistrate Michelle Dooley took into account Grady’s cooperation with police, criminal history and the amount of drugs found when she handed down the sentence.

The Nerang woman was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment with immediate parole granted.
