The Royal Australian Air Force’s newest fighter jet, the F-35A Lightning, will be in the sky for this year’s Gold Coast Pacific Airshow.

The F-35A is renowned for its stealth, speed and agility, representing the cutting edge of military technology.

Pacific Airshow director Kevin Elliott said they were really excited to announce the F-35A’s inclusion in this year’s show.

“It is the Air Force’s most modern and badass fighter jet and I don’t know that it’s ever done a demonstration here on the Gold Coast.

“It’s the most advanced weapon that the Royal Australian Air Force has in its arsenal... We’re going to be absolutely blown away by what we see with the F35-A, it’s an incredible aircraft.

“I know many people have been opining to get this aircraft to come to Pacific Air Show, and so have we, and we’re so excited that is actually happening,” he said.

The inclusion of the F35-A was not the only announcement the Airshow boss made on Sunday morning.

“[Nitro Circus] will be doing some demonstrations on the southern end of our venue, we’ll have Jacko Strong, Perry Bink and Top Dog doing some cool stunts for us,” he said.

Mr Elliott said he hopes the inclusion of these demonstrations will ease the traffic leaving Surfers.

“Full demonstrations will be happening after the show each day so we’re inviting folks to stick around, watch the demonstrations, hang out, get a drink, and then avoid the lines getting out of surfers to get back home,” he said.

Also announced on Sunday was the start of a four year partnership with Southport Flying Club which will host over 23 of the performing aircraft this year.

Gold Coast Pacific Airshow will run from August 16 to August 18.
