A popular night market on the Gold Coast is set to open a new French-inspired restaurant featuring cheese fondue.
Miami Marketta founder Emma Milikins said Mona Lisa’s Lair would debut on Friday night.
“You really do feel transported to another country in this private little sanctuary, which is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Miami Marketta,” she said.
Ms Milikins said she had been working on the concept for six months to elevate the dining experience at the busy street food and live music hub.
“On my last trip to Paris we were staying in the Latin Quarter where there is an entire street dedicated to raclette and fondue,” she said.
“It is such an amazing dining experience sharing foods together, especially cheese.
“It is a rustic experience, very hands on — tearing of bread, dipping of condiments into cheese.
“It’s slightly messy but super fun.”
The new 18-plus venue will have a “glamorous champagne-style intimate restaurant and bar”, with an a la carte menu.
Ms Milikins said there was “something for everyone” including a blue-cheese caramel tart, fennel and orange doughnuts, and pork and apple crumble.
“Personally I love the stuffed jalapeños wrapped in prosciutto as well as the fondue,” she said.
“Well, actually any of the cheese dishes.”
