Lights are out and deep fryers are turned off at many McDonald’s across the Gold Coast due to the floods that have devastated southeast Queensland and NSW’s Northern Rivers.
The store at Palm Beach is one of many that have been forced to close with stock running out at a distribution centre.
A sign on the door advises customers their closest store is at Tugun or Burleigh Waters.
A spokesperson for McDonald’s said the chain is working closely with the local licensees and suppliers affected to re-open in the coming days.
“Unfortunately, this included our Brisbane distribution centre. We immediately implemented a number of contingencies, however the continued poor weather has meant that some of our restaurants have been temporarily closed or are experiencing product shortages.
“The majority of our restaurants across QLD remain open and serving our communities.
“The safety and wellbeing of customers, crew and our communities remains our top priority.
We appreciate customers’ patience and understanding.”
