Friends of a young woman critically injured in a shooting on the Gold Coast have taken to social media in an overwhelming display of support for a “beautiful girl” fighting for her life in hospital.
Linley Anne Anyos was shot in the back while sitting in the passenger seat of a car at a Tallebudgera property around lunchtime on Wednesday.
The 33-year-old has been on life support in the intensive care unit at Gold Coast University Hospital where a Queensland Police Service spokesman said she remained in a critical condition on Friday morning.
“OMG such a beautiful girl,” Alisha Foster posted online in support of her friend.
“I went to school with her - she was such a great chick, ” Kezza Smith wrote in another post
“Can’t believe what I’m reading.”
It’s still unclear why Ms Anyos was at the property on Trees Rd when she was shot. Detectives from the homicide squad have been assisting with the investigation from the outset, with police sources telling the Bulletin they have not ruled out the possibility that the shooting was accidental.
Among the hundreds of messages online for the young woman – many friends have sent their support to her family who have been by her side.
“Wow can’t believe this is real. So sorry,” Phee Huthmann-Grace said.
Annaleise Frank, another friend of Ms Anyos added: “Heart goes out to friends and family - how horrible.”
