A man has pleaded guilty to slashing another man’s face in a brutal attack at a Surfers Paradise hostel.
Lewis Taylor, 25, briefly appeared in Southport District Court via videolink on Tuesday.
He pleaded guilty to one count each of grievous bodily harm and serious assault on police causing bodily harm.
Taylor slashed another man’s face with a weapon outside the Backpackers in Paradise hostel on September 5 last year.
It is understood both men were staying there at the time.
The victim, then 30 years old, was rushed to hospital with significant facial injuries.
Taylor was arrested later that night.
He went on to seriously assault a police officer just days after being taken into custody.
Taylor said little during his brief arraignment, saying only “Guilty, Your Honour” in response to each of the charges.
He is remanded in custody and due to be sentenced on November 20.
