TRAVELLERS looking for options closer to home can now book into a new luxury retreat opening at Beechmont on Wednesday.
Hazelwood Estate, which accommodates up to 44 guests across three luxury pavilions and 17 cabins alongside The Paddock restaurant and a day spa, is the first new product of its kind for the region since the Covid pandemic began.
General manager Tom Simpson said the gated country retreat, set on a wagyu and polo farm, had been four years in the making.
“We’ve been through the lockdowns at the start of the pandemic and seen the rise of domestic tourism like a phoenix through the flames,” he said.
“We’re in a strong position, we’ve just got to learn to roll with the punches and be flexible in helping our guests find alternative dates.”
While staycays are hot property for Queenslanders unable to travel to most other states, the Beechmont property still has some sought-after calendar dates available.
“We have bookings for school holidays and Easter,” Mr Simpson said.
“Guests can wake early to watch the sunrise over the hills, listen to the calls of the whipbirds or watch a wallaby jump past before slipping back into their king-size bed in front of their personal fireplace.”
