The city’s first dedicated egg-freezing clinic has opened on the Gold Coast.

‘First Lady’ of women’s health Dr Miriam Lee has partnered with fertility’s so-called ‘miracle man’ Dr Kee Ong on Focus Fertility Preservation. The Southport-based clinic offers a streamlined process where women can get trusted information at the right age, to make important decisions for their future.

Dr Lee said her main goal for the clinic was to help women preserve their hopes for children before it was too late.

“What we’re trying to do is reach out to healthy young women that maybe not really have any issues about fertility at that stage and just making them aware about fertility health.

“They can focus on their work, and we can focus on their fertility health for them so that they can still carry on their dreams or ambitions that they may have,” she said.

Working as a gynaecologist for 25 years, Dr Lee brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the clinic and she said the clinic differs from others.

“I’ve been doing this for a while. The fact we’re looking at the space of really helping healthy people beforehand.

“We want women to be up to date with screenings and wellness checks. We want to remove shame and stigma and tackle taboos with courageous conversations about common issues including bladder leakage, painful sex, STIs, vulval diseases, menopausal issues, troublesome hormones and heavy periods.

“People go to doctors when they have a problem, but we’re more looking at preventative, and trying to get to people before they get into problems,” she said.

Opening in November, the boutique service is backed by a combined 40 years’ experience of the Lee / Ong team and powered by the science of world leading pioneers, Monash IVF.
