Gold Coasters told to ‘get out’ of the water after sharks spotted in surf

A popular Gold Coast beach has been shut down after “dozens” of sharks were spotted in the surf. Find out all the details

A popular Gold Coast beach has been shut down on Good Friday after multiple sharks were spotted in the surf.

Miami Beach has been closed to the public as North Burleigh Life Saving crews scour the waters for sharks.

Beachgoers were told to exit the beach around 11am after lifeguards spotted “dozens” of sharks nearby.

It is understood up to 20 sharks were seen chasing after fish.

At around 2.30pm lifeguards were seen diverting the predators away from the shore.

The beach remains closed.
