A DRIVER has been left suffering redness to the face and a bruised ego after a visit to Gold Coast University Hospital went horribly wrong.
In video published online by Dashcam Owners Australia the motorist, who was driving a white Toyotya, is seen joining the end of a line of traffic on Hospital Blvd.
After a couple of seconds waiting in line the driver decides to reverse back along the road in front of the busy hospital.
In doing so, they collide with a maroon sedan turning right into a drop-off area.
It is unknown what prompted the driver’s bizarre move. The most popular theory on social media was they may have been a rideshare driver attempting to find a passenger.
ONE NIGHT WITH GOLD COAST AMBOS: THREATS, CRASHES AND A MIRACLE ESCAPE
Although not often the scene of accidents, the roads around Gold Coast University Hospital are frequently the scene of traffic tailbacks at busy times.
Lines of cars can sometimes be seen snaking around onto Parklands Drive as vehicles line up to get into the public car park.
In December the Bulletin reported that even staff members had been unable to access the car park after days of heavy rain reduced the number of people using public transport.
