Police have now charged a 16-year-old boy who allegedly robbed a city service station armed with a knife, marking yet another low point in the Gold Coast’s youth crime crisis.

Police have charged a 16-year-old boy who allegedly robbed a Gold Coast service station at knifepoint, marking yet another low point in the city’s youth crime crisis.

The boy entered BP Highland Park on Alexander Dr dressed in all black about 9pm on Monday, according to Gold Coast police.

A 27-year-old woman working in the service station was stocking shelves at the time.

She fled to safety and locked herself in a secure back room.

It’s alleged the boy forced his way behind the front counter and stole “a quantity of cigarettes from the cabinet”.

Police believe the teen then fled the store on foot, heading along Alexander Dr.

No one was physically injured during the armed robbery.

The boy has been charged with armed robbery and enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence.

The teen was expected to face Southport Childrens Court on Wednesday.

His alleged offending comes as the city and the state struggles to rein in alarming juvenile crime, marked by dramatic stolen car crashes and burglaries, among other incidents.

May 3: A Gold Coast retail worker has escaped unharmed after a frightening armed robbery at a service station.

Gold Coast police said a woman, 27, was working in the service station on Alexander Dr at Highland Park, stocking shelves, when a man armed with a knife entered the shop and stood behind her about 9pm on Monday.

Police have released CCTV footage of the crime as it unfolded.

It’s believed the service station targeted was BP Highland Park.

“She became alarmed by his behaviour and ran into a secure back room,” a statement read.

“The man then climbed through the wires at the counter and has stolen a quantity of cigarettes from the cigarette cabinet.

“The man then fled the store along Alexander Dr.”

The woman was not physically injured during the armed robbery.

No customers were inside the shop when the offence occurred.

Girl found ‘safe and well’ after being reported missing: Police

April 26: Police have found a 13-year-old girl “safe and well” after she was reported missing from Varsity Lakes on the Gold Coast on Monday.

Concerns were held for the girl’s welfare due to a medical condition.

In a statement, Queensland Police Service confirmed the girl had been found and thanked the public for their assistance

Police search for missing Varsity Lakes girl

April 25: Police are seeking the public’s help to find a missing 13-year-old girl.

The girl (pictured) was last seen travelling in a red 2006 Toyota Corolla sedan with Queensland registration 494JWC.

The car was being driven by a 54-year-old man known to her northbound along Railway St toward Robina Town Centre on Friday April 22 about 4pm.

The man is described as caucasian in appearance, 175cm tall with short light brown hair and blue eyes.

Concerns are held for her welfare due to her medical condition.

The man and the girl are urged to make contact with police.

Anyone who saw the pair or has information regarding their whereabouts is urged to make immediate contact with police via triple-0 (000).

Boy badly burnt in late night kitchen accident

April 19: A boy has been rushed to hospital suffering from significant burns to his arms and hands after a “hot oil spill” fire in a kitchen inside a Gold Coast home.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) and Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) were called to Ball St at Pimpama late on Thursday, just before midnight.

Firefighters were responding to a stove fire, but the blaze was extinguished by the time they arrived at the residence, a QFES spokesman said.

Paramedics treated a “male aged in his teens”, whose hands and arms were badly burnt, a QAS spokeswoman said.

The boy was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

QAS described the incident as a “hot oil spill”, but QFES said it was a fire.

The blaze did not spread beyond the stove.

Meanwhile, emergency services were also called to a boat on fire at a residence on Stanhill Dr at Surfers Paradise about 5.20am on Friday, according to QAS.

No one was injured in the boat blaze.

Blaze rips through caravan park buildings

April 11: Fire ripped through two structures at a Nerang caravan park on Monday afternoon.

Multiple fire teams including two teams with breathing apparatus were called to the Nerang St location at 3.35 on Monday.

They arrived to find a caravan and a separate demountable both “well involved” in flames.

Queensland Ambulance paramedics assessed five people for smoke inhalation but none required transport to hospital.

Police are also assisting on scene.

Fire at Gold Coast Unit

April 9: Emergency crews spent half an hour battling a fire at a Gold Coast unit in the early hours of Saturday morning which left the home damaged.

A person was also taken to hospital after the fire broke out in the Brisbane Rd, Labrador unit about 12.45am.

The person was not injured in the fire.

Fire crews had the blaze under control by 1.15am.

Ambulance crews had been called the address about 9.30pm on Friday.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

Police are investigating.

Brawl in Broadwater Parklands

April 9: Emergency services have responded to a brawl at the Broadwater Parklands, Southport.

A police spokeswoman said two men were involved in a fight about 6.15pm Friday.

She said the men were believed to be intoxicated and paramedics attended.

No one was injured.

‘She’s dead’: Man in hospital after worrying ‘drug-affected’ frenzy

April 6: Police have taken a man to hospital for assessment after he was heard screaming “she’s dead” at the top of his lungs as he repeatedly cried out for help in a southern Gold Coast suburb.

Multiple Gold Coast police officers were called to the dramatic disturbance around Broad Shore Motel on the Gold Coast Highway and Peerless Ave at Mermaid Beach just after 10pm on Tuesday.

In a video sent to the Bulletin, the man’s voice can be heard echoing through the streets and alarming members of the public a stone’s throw from exclusive Multi-Millionaire’s Row.

It’s understood the man yowled for help for about 15 minutes, though no one was injured or deceased at the time.

A motel resident said the man was thought to have “broken in” via the motel’s garage before he “got stuck in the fire stairwell” while “on a bad drug trip”.

It’s claimed the man smashed a glass door at the motel while trying to exit the building.

Asked for more information about the bizarre incident, police stated officers attended a “mental health and drug-affected matter”.

The man was “undergoing assessment at hospital” on Wednesday morning.

No charges had been laid.
