Police need the public’s help to piece together the final moments of a motorbike rider who died in a horror southern Gold Coast crash.
It’s believed the 36-year-old Southport man was riding his motorbike along the Gold Coast Highway in the south-bound lanes, past the Coolangatta Airport turn-off, when he crashed about 3pm Friday at Bilinga.
Police said a passing motorist came across the injured rider laying on the road, however he died at the scene a short time later.
It’s understood investigators are still trying to determine how the crash occurred and need to speak to those who saw it unfold.
Police are urging witnesses, especially those with dash-cam footage, who may have seen the 2015 Blue Yamaha WR450F with registration 285SW riding along the motorway prior to and including the crash, to come forward.
The Forensic Crash Unit will investigate.

There are fears for a motorbike rider who suffered critical injuries in a horror southern Gold Coast crash.
Emergency services, including high acuity response and critical care, rushed to the intersection of Coolangatta Rd and Gold Coast Highway, Bilinga, about 3pm.
Five ambulance crews and police attended the scene following reports of a motorbike involved in an accident.
An ambulance spokesman said the rider suffered critical injuries and further details could not be provided.
Motorists should expect significant delays in the area.

Men rushed to hospital after fall - March 20
Two males have been rushed to hospital after falling into an 8m hole at one of the Gold Coast’s most infamous ‘bomb’ development sites.
A 2015 plan to build two towers on Southport’s hole-in-the-ground site was not pursued
Critical care paramedics attended the site off Young Street at 1.26am following reports of two males aged in their 20s falling approximately 8m into a hole.
Queensland Ambulance Service said one patient had suffered a head injury and was taken in a stable condition to Gold Coast University Hospital and the second patient had suspected spinal injuries and was taken in to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
The notorious site, known as Southport’s ‘hole-in-the-ground’, on the corner of Nerang, Young and Garden streets, has been in development hell for over 30 years, with repeated failed attempts to build towers on it.

The site is still owned by Singapore-based Lee Kim Tah Group’s Australian arm, Cienna, which in 2015 was willing to step aside to let someone else develop the site.
The site was purchased by a company believed to be associated with late INXS frontman Michael Hutchence in 1991 and was subsequently sold to Brisbane developer Kevin Miller in 2002 for $2.55 million.

Child seriously injured in northern Gold Coast head-on crash
UPDATE 2.45PM: An infant was also taken to hospital following the major collision.
Seven ambulance crews responded to a two-car crash at the intersection of Abraham and Hargraves Rds about 1.40pm Wednesday.
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said four people were treated at the scene, after initial reports of six injured.
A primary school aged child was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition.
An infant, an adult woman and a woman in her 30s were taken to hospital in a stable condition.
INITIAL 2.15PM: Three children are among six people reported to be injured in a head-on collision at Upper Coomera.
Emergency services rushed to Abraham and Hargraves Rds about 1.40pm Wednesday following reports of a two-car crash.
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said six people were injured, with two children understood to be in a serious but stable condition and two adults stable.
Paramedics, including critical care and high acuity response, are still assessing the injured at the scene.
Motorists should expect traffic delays with one road partially blocked.

Four-car crash in Helensvale - March 15
Three people have been injured and significant delays are expected after a four-car crash on the M1 southbound at Helensvale.
Paramedics came across the incident about 2.15pm Tuesday.
A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said one person had seatbelt injuries, a woman suffered facial injuries and a man received minor injuries.
Three people were later taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in stable conditions with minor injuries.
Police said one lane was blocked to traffic while crews attended the scene.

Man suffers burns in barbecue gas bottle blaze - March 15
A man has been taken to hospital, alongside a critical care paramedic, suffering from burns after a barbecue fire broke out at a Gold Coast home.
Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics were called to the blaze on Tequila Court at Mermaid Waters about 7pm on Monday.
They found a man aged in his 40s had suffered burns to a leg and an arm, according to a statement.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services sent three vehicles to the fire about 7pm, a spokeswoman said.
Firefighters extinguished a gas bottle which was on fire and remained at the home for about 40 minutes.
The man was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition, with a critical care paramedic on board.
Peak hour delays after car crashes into traffic light
March 13: Peak hour delays are expected in Carrara after a car crashed into a traffic light.
Emergency services were called to a single-vehicle crash on Nielsens Rd and Semester St at 1.40pm Monday.
The driver was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
A police spokeswoman said a crew would be diverting traffic until just before 4pm at the earliest.
Motorcyclist injured in collision
March 13: A male motorcyclist has been seriously injured in a frightening collision involving another vehicle on the northern Gold Coast.
Paramedics, including a critical care unit, were called to Kerkin Road just after 9am Sunday in response to the incident.
The rider, aged in his 20s, was treated at the scene for significant injuries to his head and leg.
He was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police are investigating the incident.
Teen girl seriously injured in nasty power pole smash
March 9: A teenage girl has been rushed to hospital suffering serious chest and abdominal injuries after she crashed a car into a power pole in a rural Gold Coast suburb.
Emergency services were called to the single-vehicle crash on Norwell Rd at Norwell about 7.50am on Wednesday.
Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics treated the girl for her injuries and she was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital, along the High Acuity Response Unit, a spokesman said.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services was also called to the crash.
No fire was reported, however, rescuers had to use hydraulic equipment to free the girl from the vehicle.
Queensland Police Sevice was also called to the crash after a bystander phoned for help, a spokeswoman said.
