A group of teens allegedly found in a stolen luxury car gave police a shocking account of where they were going.

A GROUP of teens allegedly found in a stolen luxury car told police they were using it to get to court.

Police allege the silver BMW X3 was stolen from an underground carpark at Marina Crescent at Hollywell about 4.30am on September 19.

On Monday, the owner of the vehicle spotted it travelling along Brisbane Rd about 8am and contacted police.

“This vehicle eventually parked in Whitby St at Southport with five youths getting out of the vehicle,” a Queensland Police Service spokeswoman said. “Police attended and five males were taken into custody.”

The Bulletin can reveal at least one of the teens told police they were using the vehicle to get to court. It’s understood some in the group were due to appear in court that day.

The Bulletin has previously reported the owner of the vehicle slammed the group of “teenage losers” and said they had managed to turn off the car tracker. Police at the time said a car remote was also taken from another vehicle which was also unlocked in order to open the gate to exit the complex.

A QPS spokeswoman said a Mermaid Beach boy, 16, had been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, two counts of stealing, and one count enter premises and commit indictable offence.

The boy is accused of taking a boom speaker and alcohol from a house at Pacific Pines about 3.30am on September 20 and also allegedly stealing items from a grocery store at Pacific Pines on September 17.

Three more boys, two aged 17 from Worongary and Nerang and a 16-year-old from Tanah Merah, have been charged with enter premises and commit indictable offence relating to the Hollywell incident. The boy, 17, from Nerang has been charged with receiving tainted property.

All were refused police bail and are to appear in Southport Children’s Court. Investigations continue into a Southport boy, 16.
