Commuters were faced with heavy traffic after a three-car pileup caused havoc at a Gold Coast intersection on Friday.
Emergency services were called to the crash at the intersection of North St and Marine Pde in Southport at around 7.15am on Friday.
An ambulance spokeswoman said two crews were on scene assessing a woman in her 60s who was trapped in her car.
She was taken to Gold Coast University hospital in a stable condition.
One motorist, who witnessed the crash, said it looked like a car had run a red light before colliding into the two vehicles.
At around 7.30am the crash had blocked motorists from being able to turn right on to Marine Pde.
“These guys in high-vis who were nearby when the crash happened, came out and started directing traffic,” a witness said.
A Gold Coast police spokesman said they had one unit on scene and confirmed no roads were closed at 7.40am.
