Two people have been taken to hospital after their boat flipped, throwing them into the water just off of the Gold Coast.

Emergency services were called after reports that a boat had flipped in the seaway near the Spit at 11.15pm on Thursday.

A Gold Coast police spokeswoman said two men who were on board at the time were thrown into the water.

Paramedics rushed to the scene and assessed the two men, both aged in their 40s.

They had minor injuries and were taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

The police spokeswoman said they would attempt to get the boat out of the water on Friday.
