An elderly woman has died in hospital after she sustained life-threatening injuries from a house fire on the Gold Coast.

Emergency services were called to the property on Milling Court, Robina about 2.30pm on Monday, a Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said.

A 99-year-old woman sustained burns to her chest, face, back and limbs and was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.

On Tuesday, a Queensland Police Service (QPS) spokesman confirmed the woman died as a result of her injuries.

“Initial investigations indicate the fire was non-suspicious,” the QPS spokesman said.

“Investigations into the cause are ongoing.”

It’s understood the small fire started in a room and was extinguished relatively quickly by emergency services.
