Inside the construction of Dreamworld's newest precinct

Rollercoaster fanatics can get excited with Dreamworld confirming that its new jungle-themed precinct is on track to open at the end of this year.

The theme park giant’s eagerly anticipated Rivertown project, first announced in 2022, is well under construction, bringing new attractions to the park including the Jungle Rush rollercoaster.

Dreamworld operations director, Michelle Erasmus, said a new rollercoaster is always highly anticipated and she can’t wait for guests to experience it.

“It’s going to be completely immersive, we’re very excited, there’s also another attraction that’s going to be part of this precinct called Murrissippi Motors and that’s a reimagined version of our family favourite Vintage Cars,” Ms Erasmus said.

“You can see that the focus is really on families so we’ll have the family Vintage Cars ride and then the family coaster.”

Contractor Herron Coorey director Dan Mickan said construction is due to finish towards the end of 2024.

“We’ve stood the structural steel and in the last month we’ve completed the concrete slab for the temple building,” Mr Mickan said.

“We’ve currently erected about 60 tonnes of structural steel with about another 120 tonnes to go … it’s really tricky working in a live environment but we have heaps of experience doing that.

“The roller coaster will be coming in and out of the temple building … we will have the Murrisippi Motors track weaving in and out of the rollercoaster ride.”
