Browns Plains man, 29, charged over alleged Gilberton hooning crash in which child was injured

A Gold Coast driver has allegedly lost control while doing burnouts, colliding with two cars and injuring a child. Read what police say happened.

An alleged hoon has lost control, colliding with two cars and injuring a child on the Gold Coast.

According to a Queensland Police Service (QPS) spokesman the black Ford Falcon ute was doing burnouts on Stapylton Jacobs Well Road at Gilberton just before 10pm on Friday.

“The driver lost control and collided with a white Ford Ranger and white Holden Commodore” the QPS spokesman said.

“The Ford (Falcon) ute subsequently caught on fire.”

A 30-year-old man and six-year-old girl were injured when their car was struck by the alleged hooning ute.

Police attended the incident and breath tested the driver of the Falcon ute who allegedly returned a reading of 0.104, more than twice the legal limit.

A 29-year-old Browns Plains man has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle, driving while over the middle alcohol limit, without a licence, and driving an unregistered car. He has also be charged with stealing fuel.

He is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates court on September 16.
