As listeners still reel from the shock exit of Gold Coast radio stars Bianca Dye and Ben Hannant, their replacement can be revealed.

Bronte Langbroek will host the 90.0 Sea FM breakfast show with Danny Lakey in 2024.

Langbroek – daughter of Surfers Paradise MP John-Paul Langbroek – began her radio career with the station in Brisbane.

While she’s since worked in studios in Griffith, Wagga Wagga, Geelong, Canberra and Townsville, the move marks a homecoming for the local talent.

“As a born and bred Gold Coast gal, moving to Sea FM feels like coming home in every sense,” Langbroek said.

“I am so excited that I now get to help wake up my beautiful hometown – and the rest of Queensland – on the same station I grew up listening to every single day.

“I’ve made it.”

Langbroek said she understood and appreciated the outcry from listeners who had to say goodbye to Dye and Hannant.

“They are both outstanding broadcasters,” she said.

“I worked with Ben in the promotions team on the Gold Coast back in 2017 to 2019 and he is one of the most classy individuals I ever had the privilege of working with.

“He was never above anyone and was just so easy to work with and work for.

“He (left the show) with such grace because that is the type of person he is.

“I have deep fondness for Ben, so I completely understand the upset.”

Langbroek said she had contacted Dye directly to thank her for what she had done for women in the industry.

“Bianca is a legend, not only in the radio industry but particularly for us women,” she said.

“She paved the way and gave us a voice when maybe we didn’t have it.

“I am stepping into some pretty big shoes.

“I appreciate them both so much.”

SCA Head of Regional Content Blair Woodcock said “the best was yet to come” for the morning show.

“Bronte’s sense of humour and natural knack for storytelling means she’s perfect for breakfast radio and we are thrilled to get her back to the Goldie,” he said.

Bianca Dye and Ben Hannant said their farewells to Gold Coast listeners on October 27.

After four years on air, Dye said the decision had left her with “mixed emotions”, sparking an outcry from listeners.

“Obviously this isn’t a decision I made myself, but as they say in the industry – that’s just business,” she said.

“But I just want to say thank you. It’s been an amazing four years and it’s been great fun working with you.”

Mr Woodcock said they were still yet to announce the replacement for Hannant, who was also axed from the show a week before his departure on October 27.

“It’s exciting times ahead for this station, obviously they’re going for a fresh new change, which is fantastic – I’m excited to listen,” Hannant told listeners.

“Obviously a new chapter closes in my book and a new one will open up.

“I was born and bred here, I started listening to Sea FM as a young kid and now I’ve had this opportunity to hold the baton for the last seven years.”

The new show starring Langbroek will debut on January 29 from 6am.
