Construction of Dreamworld’s newest ride has begun as part of the theme park’s $55 million revamp.
The $6 million attraction called the Dreamworld Flyer will open in the later half of this year alongside a refreshed Kenny and Belinda’s Dreamland children’s area and Ocean Parade expansion.
Dreamworld CEO Greg Yong said the start of construction signified a “new age” for the theme park, which opened in 1981.
“It’s exciting to see our investment into the park well underway,” he said.
“I can’t wait to unveil a renewed entryway for all guests and visitors to enjoy for years to come.”
The planned site will be situated by the Dreamworld Globe, surrounded by water fountains and light display providing the first major change to the “renewed entryway” in the parks 40-year history.
“A new legacy will rise with an ode to the iconic history of the park,” Mr Yong said.
“We’re dedicated to improving our guest experience and thinking of new attractions we can invest in so our community and future generations can enjoy what Dreamworld has to offer.”
The family-friendly Dreamworld Flyer will offer a wave swinger attraction suitable for children and adults.
Further construction will follow into 2024, after the redevelopment of Kenny and Belinda’s Dreamland children’s area.
The land occupied by The Wiggles World and ABC Kids will be transformed into a new themed environment – Rivertown.
