Owners of a dog who went missing more than five days ago are elated after finding her hiding in the bushland.
Brisbane couple Elissaundra Augusteyn and Sofia Hernandez were walking their two dogs Miaa and Javi under the Jetty at the spit on Sunday when Miaa was spooked and ran off.
Ms Augusteyn posted a heartfelt video to social media alerting the public they found Miaa at around 12pm on Saturday.
The video shows Ms Augusteyn hearing movements in the bushes when the video pans to Miaa running through the bushes.
“Mi mi,” she said.
“Hi baby, come here
“Oh my god,” Ms Augusteyn screams.
Earlier Ms Augusteyn had organised a ‘safe search’ event from 10am on Saturday September 17 in hopes to find Miaa.
However, pet detectves advised her to hold off on any search parties as the mass amounts of people may force Miaa to stay in hiding.
“Just keep an eye out if you are walking around the area, you may casually spot her,” Ms Augusteyn said.
“No more food being left around as this could only be teaching her to come out for a full belly and then go back into hiding.
“We need her to stave and come out.”
While Ms Augusteyn said she was grateful for the communities support she asked for locals to stop calling her name.
“She doesn’t know you or your voice and she will not come out of hiding,” she said.
“All we can do now is keep the area in silence and hope she will pop out on her own.
“Please don’t try to catch her if spotted, just take a photo and note the location.”
Ms Augusteyn said they were so desperate to find out what has happened to Miaa they decided to put out a reward which went from $1000 to $10,000 within a day.
“We have decided to give up our savings towards a house and a future together,” she said.
“There is no home without Miaa.
“This is the only bit of money we have.
“We just want our girl back.”
